Why it matters

If a booster is late, ask your vet what comes next

The next step depends on the vaccine, age and prior doses. Keep every date, batch and clinic note together so your vet can advise from the full history.

Frequently asked questions

What is the standard puppy vaccination schedule?

Puppies usually start core DHPP shots at 6–8 weeks, repeat at 10–12 and 14–16 weeks, and receive rabies around 12–16 weeks depending on local law. A booster follows at one year, then core boosters are given every one to three years.

Are non-core vaccines necessary for my dog?

Not for every dog. Bordetella, leptospirosis, Lyme and canine influenza are recommended based on lifestyle — daycare, boarding, travel, ticks or local outbreaks. Your vet can mark which ones matter for your dog.

How do I keep the schedule without losing it?

Store each shot with its date, vaccine label, batch and clinic in one record, and set due dates. PetMerge keeps the due dates visible so you get reminded before the next booster is overdue.
